O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Psalm 8:9

The final words of the psalm repeat its opening. The key difference is that we have discovered more of God and ourselves through its verses. We no longer simply look to the wonder of our natural world to catch a glimpse of God.

We now know that we ourselves are a real expression of that glory. Cracked vessels we most certainly are; yet it’s through the cracks that God’s light shines through most perfectly. We fill, or populate, the whole earth. We are God’s glory within our workplace and neighbourhood.

This is one way in which the earth is filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea. Remarkably each of us choosing to follow Jesus is an expression of God’s good news on earth. We are living, breathing love letters spread throughout the earth; literally the hands and feet of Jesus and God’s continuing mission of love in the world.

For this to happen it requires me to take three decisions. Will I choose to live my faith seriously? Will I become engaged in my worlds, both large and small, and actively participate in serving God’s purpose? And finally, will I commit to pray daily for God’s Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven?

Three big decisions that God invites you to consider. Decisions you must take alone, yet can only make happen in a practical way in companionship with others. As Henry Ford said, ‘Coming Together Is A Beginning; Keeping Together Is Progress; Working Together Is Success.’ Let’s prayerfully agree to work together for the glory of God.

Something to Consider: What reservations do you have about expressing God’s glory within your worlds?

An Action to Take: Consider if you can take one or all of the three decisions above.

A Prayer to Make: ‘Lord, I am Your servant and agree to live for You and serve You according to Your will.’
