{"id":46737,"date":"2023-03-30T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.barnabastoday.com\/?p=46737"},"modified":"2023-03-27T08:43:19","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T07:43:19","slug":"news-story-asia-vietnamese-families-praise-god-for-sending-aid-swiftly-after-landslides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.barnabastoday.com\/2023\/03\/news-story-asia-vietnamese-families-praise-god-for-sending-aid-swiftly-after-landslides\/","title":{"rendered":"Vietnamese families praise God for sending aid swiftly after landslides"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\">\n<p>Urgent aid was provided by Barnabas for Hmong Christians in Vietnam after landslides caused by heavy rains damaged homes in the mountainous north-west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barnabas funded the hire of diggers to clear the earth and debris, and buy building materials for repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 27 families affected by the emergency were given rice, cooking pots and blankets to replace goods lost in the mudslides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.barnabasaid.org\/gb\/news\/vietnamese-families-praise-god-for-sending-aid-swiftly-after-landslides\/images\/06036d9-8c910d3a-0568-46cf-b.jpg\" alt=\"Vietnamese\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A Hmong Christian family with their Barnabas-funded supplies of rice, blankets and a cooking pot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our project partner said villagers thanked God for Barnabas\u2019 swift response to the emergency. \u201cBarnabas Aid responded incredibly fast to this urgent need,\u201d he said. \u201cThey praised God for it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christians in the region are experiencing a steep increase in persecution. Some have been driven out of their villages because of their faith and others have had their rice stores confiscated by officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe believers in these villages are already under heavy pressure from authorities so when added natural disaster strikes it can be the last straw,\u201d said our project partner. \u201cThis aid was provided very fast and encouraged many.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vietnam\u2019s constitution states that citizens can follow the religion of their choice; however, its communist government views Christianity with suspicion as it is perceived as \u201cWestern\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Persecution of Christians, who make up around 7% of the population, largely comes from local or provincial authorities and varies across the country. The government often fails to intervene to stop it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><strong>Give thanks<\/strong>&nbsp;that the families escaped physical harm when the landslides struck and that help reached them swiftly.
